My interest in the field of interior design came from my love for finding creative and innovative ways to solve a problem. I knew growing up that the profession I chose would need to provide me with a creative outlet and challenge me to think outside the box. Being able to expand my knowledge of interior design over the past four years has taught me that I am passionate about designing for the comfort of people and ensuring that spaces meet their needs in terms of functionality, safety, and aesthetics. I am inspired by the benefits of biophilic design and how it can have a positive impact on the way someone feels in a space and their quality of life. Following graduation, I want to continue to push myself to grow as a designer and explore the possibilities that the profession has to offer.

A Wellness Centre Supporting the Mental and Physical Health of Student Athletes

SERENE

Serene Wellness Centre focuses on creating opportunities for student athletes at universities to build connections, receive support for their physical and mental health, expand their knowledge on nutrition, and stay on top of their studies. A mixture of spaces are provided to ensure that everyone can find the support they need while discovering the style of relaxation that works best for them. A large focus has been placed on privacy to guarantee that students are not being overheard while speaking with professionals and to encourage them to seek help when needed. The overall design utilizes calming colours, biophilia, human centric furniture, and an inclusive design to prioritize the wellness, safety, and comfort of the student athletes as they engage with the wellness centre.
