I first stumbled upon the possibility of building a career in interior design early in high school when we were tasked with exploring potential career paths. I originally thought that it would be an easy, artistic path; however, after doing more research into the field, I quickly realized it would be the ideal way to combine the creativity I desire, the technicality I enjoy, and the application of psychology that I have grown to love. Throughout the past four years in the program, I have gained an even greater insight into how interior spaces impact the way people think, feel and interact. I’m eager to continue expanding my knowledge of the psychology behind interior design and how to create spaces that are as healthy as possible for both users of the space and the environment.

A Community Animal Centre to Promote Human-Animal Interaction and Adoption

PAWSITIVE CONNECTIONS

Each year, millions of companion animals, such as cats, dogs, and small animals, are surrendered to animal shelters, leading to dysfunctional, overcrowded and deterring shelter spaces. Pawsitive Connections is a community animal centre that connects the local community with animal shelter environments as a way to reduce animal surrenders and overcrowding. Spaces have been specifically designed with animal behaviour patterns and environmental stressors in mind to ensure all users of the space have smooth and encouraging journeys. Areas for one-on-one animal bonding, comfortable animal housing, and dedicated education spaces provide many opportunities for people to connect with animals and learn how to be better pet owners, inspiring a sense of confidence in all.
