Mackenzie Trollope

Since I was a kid, architecture and interior design have captured my attention. That passion has continued to evolve the more I learn about the impact the built environment can have on an individual. In the future I aspire to create designs that will captivate and benefit everyone who experiences them.

Designing Engaging Overnight Shelters for Individuals Experiencing Homelessness

The homeless population in Canada continues to drastically increase as a result of Covid-19 and the rising cost of living. During the pandemic the many individuals lost their job, making it difficult to to afford housing and ultimately forcing them to the streets. This life altering situation can compound onto existing mental or physical disabilities, addictions and substance abuse. The Hygge House holistically integrates trauma informed design principles to encourage safety, well-being and healing for guests, visitors and staff members.
