Dona Kubrusli
My love of design was first awakened in my city of birth, Damascus , Syria. Being surrounded by ancient and exquisite architecture paved the way to my interest in design. Arriving in Canada in 2016, and experiencing the modern influences of this country and its powerful connection to nature motivated me to enter the world of interiors. My goal as an Interior Designer is to merge the beauty of history and sustainable materials of the modern age with the healing influence of nature. Design for me is seeing the bigger image ahead of the details of the design. I completed the Honours Bachelor of Interior Design at Fanshawe College in 2022 and my professional goal is to work in a wide range of design modes but specialize in retail, health care and hospitality. My personal interests include art, writing and photography which all have influenced the creation of my designs. And my designs contain these influences and have a creative impact on every area of our physical and virtual environments.
A Learning Environment Designed to be Therapeutic for Children with ADHD that is also Supportive and Inclusive for their Parents
Thesis Capstone Project
Children with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) are in danger of being marginalized from their peer group because they are frequently in the same learning environments as more adept children while having dramatically different needs. This research investigates how designing a therapeutic environment for these children can enhance their physical and psychological well-being in order to improve their learning outcomes and behaviour while supporting their parents to reduce their stress and anxiety.
