Avery Boyes

I am from the small town of St. Marys, Ontario. Interior design has been a passion of mine ever since I was a child. My passion continues to grow as I further commit to my education and profession. Learning and understanding the impact of interior design through public and private spaces has developed my perception of the career. I aspire to create spaces that embrace clients' needs by looking at sustainability, wellness, inclusion and using strategies that evoke the five senses. Following graduation, my goal is to apply my skills and knowledge to residential and hospitality projects.

Designing a Hotel that will Enhance Guest Comfort Levels and Reduce Anxiety

Arriving at a place one has never visited before can lead to anxiety, stress, and feeling overwhelmed. Hotels can be hard to navigate especially when they are overcrowded, leading to additional stress. There are a variety of different reasons that bring people to a hotel such as work trips, family vacations, pleasure, and sporting events. Hotels often do not include spaces that accommodate all types of travellers' needs, leading to an inability to settle down. If a hotel does not provide a good first impression guests will be unpleased with their stay, leading to discomfort. The goal of this project is to create a space that is tailored to guests' needs. This project will aim to eliminate negative environmental behaviour and improve guests’ overall comfort within the space.
