Sydney Semper

Interior design allows me to create spaces that feel grounded, welcoming, and connected to the people who use them. My work brings together technical knowledge, creativity, and thoughtful material choices to shape environments that support comfort, gathering, and everyday experiences. I focus on designing spaces that balance form and function while fostering a sense of belonging, connection, and community.

Decolonizing Design: An Indigenous Community Support Hub for Connection Care and Cultural Belonging

The Circle

This capstone project explores how decolonizing and participatory design approaches can shape spaces that support Indigenous community care, connection, and cultural belonging. The project proposes an Indigenous Community Support Hub that addresses the need for accessible care within Indigenous communities by integrating support services with spaces for gathering and connection. Workshop and program areas create opportunities for knowledge sharing, cultural celebration, and the continuation of traditional practices. Through thoughtful spatial planning, natural materials, and inclusive design strategies, the space supports healing, learning, and a strong sense of community belonging.
