Solace

Megan Dunbar

I'm drawn to design that feels alive- rich with culture, materiality, and a sense of presence. I am always inspired by eclectic designers, and I thrive when creating environments that fully surround the user, where texture, form, and atmosphere work together to ground people in the moment. My passion sits at the intersection of storytelling and space, creating interiors that feel both expressive and deeply intentional.

Designing a Postpartum Women’s Centre: Supporting Healing, Community, and Transition into Motherhood

Solace

This centre is envisioned as a place of holistic recovery, early-motherhood transition, and community wellness. Its design supports the physical and emotional shifts of postpartum life by blending medical care with comfort, dignity, and connection. Rather than feeling clinical, the environment acts as a restorative setting that honours the body, mind, and evolving identity. Natural light, organic form, and soft, grounded materials guide users through moments of rest, care, and reconnection. Supported by evidence-based design, the design for Solace positions the built environment as an active contributor to postpartum healing and community strength.
