Pathways Animal Care Centre

Lauryn Neil

My journey into design began unconventionally, centered around my background and interest in neuroscience and human behavioural studies. I have always tried to foster growth from my deeply running creative side while finding a way to integrate the human experience simultaneously and Interior Design has been able to provide me with just that. Whether I am creating a space for humans or animals, the end user's experience is always at the front of my mind. Being able to solve functional and perceptual issues by carefully curating spatial plans, material selections, and colour palettes resulting in a more positive user experience fills me with great satisfaction at every goal I achieve.

Designing an animal - human focused facility dedicated to educational initiatives and community involvement

Pathways Animal Care Centre

Focused on the philosophy that 'to care is to understand,' this animal care model merges clinical excellence with an immersive learning experience. The design prioritizes 'porous' boundaries featuring classrooms that overlook care areas and interactive public zones with the intention to demystify veterinary medicine. By centering the design on human-animal education, the facility scales its services to meet socioeconomic realities, transforming a standard shelter/care space into a sustainable engine for community empathy and preventative care.
