Emily Richardson
I am passionate about designing spaces that are functional, welcoming, and beautiful. I strive to enhance everyday life by thoughtfully combining functionality and aesthetics to create human-centered environments. I believe interior design is a powerful profession with the ability to positively impact how people live and experience their surroundings. Nature is a constant source of inspiration in my work, and I enjoy exploring ways to bring elements of the outdoors inside to enrich and elevate a space.
A Senior Community Centre Design that Fosters Independence, Social Connection, and Belonging.
Willow
This community centre for seniors is designed to support the social, mental, and physical well-being of the aging population through intentional, inclusive design. Recognizing the lack of spaces created specifically for seniors living independently, the centre prioritizes connection, accessibility, and a sense of belonging to help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation. The design emphasizes a welcoming environment through abundant natural daylight, biophilic elements, and a variety of flexible, accessible spaces that support artistic, active, creative, informational, and practical activities. Clear and distinctive wayfinding is integrated throughout the facility to accommodate varying abilities and promote independence. Together, these elements create a supportive community space that enhances engagement, comfort, and overall quality of life.
